Hearts of Oak have clarified the status of First Team assistant coach Stephen Abugri saying he has been re-assigned and not sacked.

Abugri has been accused and identified as the root cause for the club’s reverse in form in the Ghana Premier League.

The former King Faisal coach has since been replaced by veteran Dauda Lutterodt who was in-charge of U17 team.

Corporate Affairs Manager Joe Addo says Abugri is still contracted to the club but in another capacity.

"We all know the results we were getting wasn’t comforting, so we wanted to change things around to see if there will be an improvement but some people took offence to that and started reported some wrong things on the airwaves," the ex-international told Joy Sports.

"In the heat of the poor run, we decided our U17 coach Dauda Lutterodt swap places with assistant coach Stephen Abugri

"That's just what we did. There were no fights or quarrels as reported. The Simple fact is we moved coaches around.”
