Accra Hearts of Oak head coach Frank Nuttall believes Vincent Atinga showed huge personality to step up and dispatch the match-winning penalty over Kotoko last Sunday.

The towering center-back was the cynosure of the game when referee Samuel Sukah awarded Hearts a penalty after Ahmed Adams handled the ball in the box in the 83rd minute of last Sunday’s Superclash.

Atinga, who had beaten Felix Annan on his previous two penalty shoot-out duties, scored the lone winner when he drilled home from the spot to gift Hearts all three points against Kotoko.

And the defender has earned the praise of his manager Frank Nuttall, who insists Atinga has been brilliant since he took over.

“I think that [Vincent] Atinga has equipped himself very, very well over the time I have been here,” Nuttall told accraheartsofoaksc.com.

“He has shown a lot of leadership qualities and I have been very pleased with him. For him to step up to take the penalty shows huge personality and characteristics of leadership and that is what we want.”
