The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association has charged the Public Relations Officer Opare Addo, and the Chairman of the National Chapters Committee Barima Atuahene of Accra Hearts of Oak for inciting their fans against match officials in the game against Wa All Stars last Sunday.
Supporters of the club threw bottles and hundreds of sachet water on to the field which halted the game for close to ten minutes.
Match Officials had to be carried away in police vehicles after the game the fans charged to manhandle them.
The DC quoted that Opare Addo on a show on Asempa FM and Joy FM had false allegations against the Referees Committee of the FA and the match officials appointed for the game.
A statement by the DC stated: "Kwame Opare Addo, Public Relations Officer of Accra Hearts of Oak SC is hereby charged for a breach of Article 54 of the GFA Disciplinary Code, Articles 35(1)(b) and 35(7)(d) of the GFA General Regulations in respect of this match."
"That you, Kwame Opare Addo, Public Relations Officer of Accra Hearts of Oak SC, went on Asempa FM and Joy FM last week before your clubs match against Wa All Stars FC and made false claims and allegations against the Referees Committee of the Ghana Football Association and the set of match officials appointed for the match and cast insinuations which incited the club’s supporters against the match officials in violation of the GFA Regulations," it added.
On his part, Barima Atuahene, the NCC Chairman is charged on similar grounds as he went to Asempa FM to make similar alllegations against the Referees Appointment Committee and the match officials.
The DC statement said: "Barimah Atuahene, Board Member of Accra Hearts of Oak SC is hereby charged for a breach of Article 54 of the GFA Disciplinary Code, Articles 35(1)(b) and 35(7)(d) of the GFA General Regulations in respect of this match."
"That you, Barimah Atuahene, Board Member of Accra Hearts of Oak SC, went on Asempa FM last week before your clubs match against Wa All Stars FC and made false claims and allegations against the Referees Committee of the Ghana Football Association and the set of match officials appointed for the match and cast insinuations which incited the club’s supporters against the match officials in violation of the GFA Regulations," it added.
Both Opare and Atuahene are expected to appear before the DC on Friday if they plead not guilty to the charges leveled against them.
However, if they plead guilty, they will submit their Statements of Defence to the DC for adjudication.
