Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak have threatened to withdraw from a four-team tournament which kick starts this Friday, reports in the local media have claimed.

The capital-based side are demanding the full payment of their appearance fee of US$ 25,000 before they participate in the mini-tournament.

The club's management is reported to have demanded for the full payment before they travel to Kumasi for the tournament.

It is however unclear if their arch-rivals Kotoko have made similar demand.

The tournament being put together by Crystal Limited, a non-governmental organization, also has Kotoko and Nigeria pair Enugu Rangers and Dolphins FC.

Crystal Limited wants to use the mini-tourney to raise awareness on cancer and kidney diseases.

All matches will be played at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The mid-season tournament will prepare Kotoko for their CAF Champions League first round qualifier against BYC of Liberia.

Hearts of Oak are preparing for the resumption of the Ghana Premier League next month.
