Hellas Verona boss apologises to angry fans after Frosinone defeat

Hellas Verona coach Luigi Delneri admitted his side’s immense disappointment after defeat to fellow relegation candidate Frosinone.

Having conceded early from a Antonio Russo header, Matteo Bianchetti levelled the score for Verona but Alessandro Frara scored a late winner for the visitors.

“It is hugely disappointing for us, after the defeat to Carpi we simply haven’t recovered,” Delneri told the press post match.

“The disappointment is almost overwhelming, but I could not ask more of my players who have tried their hardest this season.”

Relegation to Serie B is all but confirmed for Verona, who have only managed three wins this season all under Luigi Delneri.

“The game was very much reflective of our season, in the first half we were subdued, in the second we produced a lot more,” Delneri added.

“Even drawing this game wasn’t an option, the fans are angry and I can only apologise.”
