High-powered Al Ain delegation to attend Gyan's mum funeral

Top officials of Al Ain are expected in Ghana this weekend for the funeral of the mother of their star striker Asamoah Gyan.

Mrs Cecilia Amoako Gyan died through a painful motor accident in November last year.

A high-powered delegation from the oil rich club will be in the country to mourn with their bereaved striker at her Mamponteng Residence in the Ashanti Region on March 16.

The body of the 60-year-old will however be laid in state at her Gbawe residence in the capital, Accra on Friday March 15 followed by a burial service at the St Stephens Methodist Church, New Gbawe.

She will then be flown to her hometown of Mamponteng for final interment.

The Black Stars captain will sign off by playing for Al Ain in their Asian Champions League clash against Tehran side Esteghlal on Wednesday.

The deceased is survived by her husband Gyan Baffour Mensah populary called ‘Asaase Jay’ and four children – Mrs Mavis Danquah, ex-international Baffour Gyan and Opoku Mensah (Zigay).
