Higuain: Napoli must count on themselves to win the Scudetto

Published on: 11 February 2016

Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain believes his team can only think about themselves as they prepare for a crucial fixture in the title race away at Juventus.

The Argentina international wants the Partenopei to stay calm and keep playing as they have done without looking over their shoulders or worrying about results elsewhere.

“I am calm about the match with Juventus, I’ve played football for 10 years and this is a derby everyone wants to play in,” said Higuain to TG 1.

“I hope to keep scoring in order to help the team to get as high as possible.

“We know that we must count on ourselves to win the Scudetto.

“We must stay calm and not think too much about the euphoria it would bring, but we should instead keep our feet on the ground.”

The 28-year-old also discussed the possibility of emulating his compatriot Diego Maradona’s achievements at the Stadio San Paolo.

“It would be magnificent if I could come close to what Maradona achieved in this city,” Higuain added.
