Mark Uth and Serge Gnabry will continue their quest to rewrite Hoffenheim club history and keep their side in contention for a top-four finish with Hannover Friday night's visitors to the Rhein-Neckar Arena (kick-off 8:30p.m. CEST/6:30p.m. GMT/2:30p.m. EDT).
Latest
With 14 goals, Uth has Vedad Ibisevic's club record 18 goals from the 2008/09 campaign in his sights, and is poised to register the best season for a Hoffenheim goalscorer since Roberto Firmino, now at Liverpool, hit the net 16 times in 2013/14. Gnabry, who â like Uth, Kevin Vogt and Benjamin Hübner â enjoyed shortened training sessions earlier in the week, has scored in his last four matches, and would equal the club-best for such a streak held by Demba Ba and Andrej Kramaric if he finds the net to help his team to a third successive win.
While Hoffenheim come into the game unbeaten in eight, Hannover find themselves scrambling for a foothold in the table after going into freefall with just five points and a single win in their last nine outings. "We want to get something from the game," former Hoffenheim midfielder Pirmin Schwegler admitted with his team 13th, just six points off the promotion/relegation play-off place. "Those who can count know we still need points."
