Newly appointed boss of the National Sports Authority, Hon. Robert Sarfo Mensah has asserted that the major challenges at the Authority are mismanagement and lack of funds and he’ll put in appropriate measures to address them in his new role.

According to the former Member of Parliament for Asunafo North, his major preoccupation will be to engage the private sector to invest in sports which has become the norm all over.

In an interview with Happy FM‘s Anopa Bosuo Sports in his first radio interview after being named as NSA boss, Hon. Sarfo Mensah sees his appointment as an opportunity to serve the nation in an official capacity again and work to bring a lot of positive changes at the authority.

“I’m grateful to God and President Nana Addo for giving me the opportunity to serve my country again. I know I’m coming to the NSA at a time that the authority is saddled with a lot of challenges but I see the appointment as an expression of president’s confidence in me to work to bring a lot of positive changes at the authority.”

Hon. Robert Sarfo Mensah, who served three-terms as Member of Parliament for his constituency further disclosed his plans for the beleaguered Authority.

“My plan is to be a team player and also run a very transparent administration and to collaborate with the Sports Ministry to fully implement the new sports act and to work to achieve the government’s manifesto promises. I will also collaborate with the key relevant stakeholders of the industry to promote sports development especially the lesser known sports and to work with my team to identify innovate ways of generating more revenue for the Authority. I will work to promote sports tourism as a means of promoting Ghana on the international scene.” The new NSA boss revealed.

He believes that all these will be primarily hinged on getting the private sector to invest in sports.

“It is my preoccupation to encourage the private sector to invest in sports because this is norm all over the world now.” Hon. Sarfo Mensah added.
