Hot-shot striker Majeed Waris targets Black Stars return

Swedish top-flight league's leading scorer Abdul Majeed Waris believes he will regain his place in the Black Stars if he maintains his scoring form.

This comes after Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah visited him on Monday to monitor his performances for a likely call-up to the national team in future.

Waris made his debut for his country in February during the friendly against Chile.

The 20-year-old, who has scored 12 goals from 12 matches in Sweden so far this season, is delighted that the Ghana coach visited him but he is aware he must maintain his form.

“I just have to keep on working hard and improve on my performance. I was happy and I really appreciate his (Coach Kwesi Appiah) visit," Waris said.

"I think if I’m able to maintain my form then I have a good chance of making it to the Black Stars.”

Waris made his debut for the Black Stars in February as a second-half substitute in the 1-1 friendly draw against Chile in the United States.

Coach Appiah is currently touring Europe to discover more players for the Black Stars and monitor the performances of current players in the squad.
