A dark cloud loomed over Aduana Stars. The ‘Ogya’ boys were having a torrid start to their premiership campaign. With five matches played, the 2010 Champions could only boast of only four points.

Supporters of the club were left in a lurch. Was their adored club going to be relegated? This is one of the questions they were asking. The status quo led to the dismissal of the then head coach of the club, Nurudeen Ahmed and was replaced by Romanian Cioaba Aristica.

Fast forward to today, consecutive victories have revived confidence levels in their camp and established a new fans’ favourite in the process. Riding to the rescue of his club is striker Yahaya Mohammed. Yahaya has scored nine goals in eleven games to put Aduana Stars in third position on the league log.

Yahaya, who has had stints with Asante Kotoko and Amidaus Professionals, joined the Dormaa based club at the beginning of the season after an unsuccessful stint in Libya. Speaking toGhanafans.com, Yahaya was elated to have rediscovered his scoring boot that once made him one of the best strikers on the local scene.

“I always have hope and faith in God. Every day I work hard to improve, with the belief that I will repay Aduana Stars for believing in me. I’m not someone who rests on his laurels, I’m very ambitious. I think that I’ve got a lot to offer.” “When the goals weren’t coming, I stayed calm throughout because I knew that I was doing a good job for my club and the coaching staff believed in me. I knew that positive results were on its way. In football, you need to keep your composure and self belief.” He chirpily said.

A lot was invested into this Aduana Stars team, as players like Zakaria Mumuni, Yahaya Mohammed, Sampson Boampong Wirekoh, Naoh Martey, Joseph Addo, Richard Mpong among others were brought in to augment the efforts of the old players but things didn’t go as expected and the team came under heavy criticism.

“It was difficult, but we didn’t get discouraged. Fortunately, we’ve also got a coaching staff who are experienced at handling such situations. We had to stick together and stay confident. It must be taken into account that the team has gone through a lot of changes compared to the previous seasons. New players have come in and are adapting to their new surroundings. We had to understand each other and get used to our style of play. We couldn’t do this in the first few games but we have gotten our ‘vibe’ back. All the same, we mustn’t get over confident because football is full of uncertainties.”

Ambitious Yahaya has his eyes fixed on the Senior men’s team, the Black Stars. He believes if he should maintain his fine form, he will be able to attract the attention of the technical team of the Black Stars.

“My aim is to be an integral member of the Black Stars, but for now, I have to keep my cool and keep scoring and help my club do very well in the league till that moment comes. I have made some cameo appearances for the Black Stars and I believe it won’t be long [until] I will find my name in the good books of the coaches.” “With Allah, all things are possible.” He quipped.
