There was a drought weekend for Ghanaian players abroad as no player scored in a major league across the globe during the weekend. 

But injuries and debut appearances made the headlines for players in Europe with Sulley Muntari and Divine Naah suffering various degrees of injuries.

Midfielder Anthony Annan made his debut league debut for Stabaek in Norway while attacker Elvis Manu played his first game for Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion.

However Stuttgart starlet Erich Berko and Raphael Dwamena were the only known Ghanaian players who scored in the German and Austrian lower-tiers respectively.

ENGLAND

Black Stars winger Christian Atsu failed to make the Bournemouth squad for their English Premier League game with Sunderland which they won 2-0.

Forward Jordan Ayew warmed the Aston Villa bench in their 1-0 home loss to West Brom. Villa boss Tim Sherwood benched the 23-year-old for the entire 90 minutes.

Elsewhere at the Britannia Stadium, Leicester City staged a remarkable comeback to snatch a point from Stoke City in a 2-2 draw.  Ghana wing-half Jeffrey Schlupp played the entire 90 minutes of the game was booked in the 81st minute. English-born starlet Joe Dodoo did not make the Leicester squad for the game.

Andre Ayew played 87 minutes of Swansea City's 0-0 home draw with Everton at the Liberty Stadium.

Would-be Ghanaian attacker Elvis Manu finally made his debut for English side Brighton & Hove Albion when they held a ten-man Wolverhampton Wanderers side to a 0-0 stalemate in the English Championship on Saturday.

Meanwhile former Liberty Professionals starlet Koby Arthur was relegated to the Birmingham City U21 side as the first team held Ipswich Town to a 1-1 draw.

Elsewhere Tariqe Fosu could not make the Reading squad for their 2-0 away triumph over Bristol City.

Albert Adomah played 58 minutes for Middlesbrough and helped them to beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 to help them to second spot.

In the League One, Ghana U23 winger Enoch Ebo Andoh lasted 88 minutes for Port Vale who suffered a 1-0 loss at Bury.

Stanley Aborah Snr. played the entire 90 minutes of the game for Notts County when they lost 2-1 against AFC Wimbledon.

Elsewhere former Arsenal starlet Zak Ansah came off the bench to play for Newport City but suffered a face injury and was replaced in the 71st minute as his side drew 0-0 with Dagenham & Redbridge. Former Chelsea reserves team captain Nana Ofori-Twumasi played the entire minutes for Newport.

Carlisle United managed to hold York City to a 2-2 draw. Derrick Asamoah was not in the Carlisle team but former Olympique Marseille and 2011 Ghana U20 forward Kevin Osei came off the bench to play for Carlisle.

GERMANY

Hamburg SV manager Bruno Labaddia left out Ghanaian starlet Gideon Jung from his squad as they drew 0-0 with Eintracht Frankfurk.

Eintracht Braunschweig and St Pauli shared the spoils in a 0-0 draw. Ghanaian pair of Joseph Baffo and Philemon Ofosu Aryeh were in the Braunschweig team for the game. Davidson Drobo-Ampem was not in the Pauli squad for the game.

Ghanaian-born Canadian international Randy Edwini-Bonsu sat on the bench for Aalen who defeated Magdeburg 2-1 at their own backyard.

Former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Evans Owusu Nyarko was in full time action for Holstein Kiel who drew 0-0 with Hansa Rostock.

Meanwhile young forward Erich Berko scored his 4th goal of the season for Stuttgarter Kickers but they lost 4-2 to Wehen.

Elsewhere Reagy Ofosu was booked in the 48th minute and played the entire minutes of the game for Chemnitzer when they lost 4-2 against Sonnenhof Großaspach.

AUSTRIA

Reinhold Yabo is still out injured and missed Red Bull Salzburg's 1-1 draw at AC Wolfsberger in the Bundesliga.

Ghanaian youth forward Raphael Dwamena hit the back of the net for the first time this season for Liefering as they coasted to a convincing 4-1 win SK Austria Klagenfurt on Friday evening. Goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi was dropped to the Liefering bench while David Atanga lasted 72 minutes of the game.

ITALY

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu played the full 90 minutes for Udinese when they lost 2-1 against Empoli in the Serie A.

Afriyie Acquah played 83 minutes for Torino who posted a 2-0 win over Sampdoria.

Isaac Cofie played 56 minutes for Carpi when they lost 1-0 against Fiorentina.

Sassuolo managed to hold AS Roma to a 2-2 drawn game at the Stadio Olimpico. Ghana midfielder Alfred Joseph Duncan lasted 56 minutes for Sassuolo.

Juventus recorded their first win of the season after beating Genoa 2-0. Midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah was not in the Juventus squad for the game.

Bologna booked a slim 1-0 win over newly-promoted Frosinone. Ghana midfielder Godfred Donsah missed out of the Bologna squad but Raman Chibsah Yussif played the entire match for Frosinone.

In the Serie B, youngster Emmanuel Prince Besea was not in the Modena as they posted a narrow 1-0 win over Ternana with ten men.

Former Parma defender Bright Addae was booked in the 71st minute while he was in action for Ascoli as they lost 3-1 against Cesena.

Pescara held Bari to a 0-0 draw. AC Milan loanee Kingsley Boateng came off the bench to play the last 7 minutes for Bari but on-loan Inter Milan defender Isaac Donkor was not in the Bari squad for the game.

Former Fiorentina midfielder Amidu Salifu played 62 minutes for Perugia when they drew 0-0 with Crotone. Udinese loanee Masahudu Alhassan was not in the Perugia squad for the game.

Maxwell Boadu Acosty played 83 minute for Latina when they drew 1-1 with Pro Vercelli.

2013 Ghana U20 midfielder Moses Odjer was unused by Salernitana who suffered a 2-0 home loss against Spezia.

Former Inter Milan Primavera midfielder Isaac Ntow Tuah sat on the Como bench for their 3-3 away draw with Vicenza.

In the Lega Pro, Ghanaian youngster Kumih Dennis was not in the Rimini squad when they managed a 3-1 win over Lupa Roma.

Former Fiorentina midfielder Daniel Kofi Agyei was in full time action for Casertana who held Lecce to a 1-1 draw.

NETHERLANDS

Dutch-born defender Johan Kappelhof played in central defence for FC Groningen who eased past AZ Alkmaar 2-0.

Ghanaian youth pair of Shadrach Eghan and Thomas Agyepong were both out of the FC Twente squad when they held Cambuur to a 0-0 draw.

Rodney Antwi was not in the FC Utrecht squad that suffered a 3-1 drubbing at Willem II on Saturday.

Richmond Boakye-Yiadom marked his debut for Roda JC Kerkrade by playing 91 minutes in their 1-1 draw with Feyenoord. His Ghanaian compatriot Edwin Gyasi also played 71 minutes for Roda.

Dutch-born Ghanaian right-back Kenny Tete was in full time action for Ajax Amsterdam when they defeated Excelsior Rotterdam 2-0.

In the Eredivisie, German-born Ghanaian defender Marcel Appiah missed NEC Nijmegen's 2-0 home victory over Heerenveen due to injury.

Manchester City loanee Divine Naah suffered an injury while in action for NAC Breda in the second-tier league and was replaced as early as the 4th minute when they drew 2-2 with Emmen. Ghana U20 attacker Raymond Gyasi played the entire game for Emmen.

Dutch-born forward Johnathan Opoku Agyemang played the entire 90 minutes of the game for VVV Venlo who held Dordrecht to a 0-0 draw.

Teije ten Den scored both goals for Go Ahead Eagles who defeated Ajax II 2-0. Ghanaian striker Elton Acolatse came off the bench to play for Ajax II but Leeroy Owusu played the entire minutes of the game for Ajax II.

18-year-old Ghanaian midfielder Randy Ababio sat on the Volendam bench when they defeated Helmon Sport 2-0.

FRANCE

French-born Ghanaian forward Grejohn Kyei played 77 minutes for Stade Reims who held giants Paris Saint-Germain to a 1-1 draw at the Stade Auguste-Delaune.

Another French-born Ghanaian Dennis Appiah excelled in defence for Caen who moved up to 12th place on the Ligue 1 log after defeating Montpellier 2-1.

Manchester City loanee Yaw Yeboah failed to make the Lille first team squad for their 1-1 draw with Stade Rennes on Friday.

Striker Majeed Waris played the entire match for Lorient and flourished in action as they shocked themselves with a 3-2 win over AS Monaco.

Ghana U20 defender Emmanuel Ntim was not in Valenciennes team that claimed a 1-0 home win over Creteil.

Former Ghana U17 and Nania FC captain Charles Boateng played the entire 90 minutes for Avranches who managed a 1-1 draw with nine-man Chambly.

In other games, former Gefle IF midfielder Joachim Adukor played for Béziers in their 2-2 drawn game with Amiens SC.

SPAIN

Ghana international midfielder Bernard Mensah finally marked his debut in the Spanish La Liga for Getafe after coming off the bench to play a cameo role in their 1-0 slender win over Malaga on Friday night.

Wakaso Mubarak came off the Las Palmas bench to play in their 1-0 home loss to Rayo Vallecano on Sunday night.

In the Segunda Division, Almeria suffered a 2-0 home defeat against Alaves. Midfielder Fatau Mohammed missed out of the squad.

Defender Kassim Nuhu was unused by Real Mallorca who lost 1-0 against Gimnastic.

Goalkeeper Razak Braimah manned the post for Cordoba who posted a 1-0 win over Ponferrdina in the Segunda Division.

PORTUGAL

Rio Ave recorded a 3-0 win at the expense of Pacos Ferreira. Midfielder Alhassan Wakaso played an influential role in the middle to help Rio with the victory. But Ghana U20 forward Osei Barnes was unused as he warmed the Ferreira bench.

Samuel Inkoom missed Boavista's 2-0 win over Academica Coimbra due to suspension.

In the second-tier league, winger Ishmael Yartey played for Gil Vicente in their 1-0 loss against Benfica B.

FC Porto loanee Lumor Agbenyenu played for Portimonense when they drew 1-1 with Covilha.

Emmanuel Oti failed to make the Braga B squad for their 1-1 draw with Feirense.

NORWAY

Ghana international midfielder Anthony Annan made his debut for Stabaek IF when they managed a narrow 2-1 victory over Tromso on Saturday afternoon. Ernest Asante also started in midfield for Stabaek while Kamal Issah came off the bench in the 63rd minute to replace Annan.

In the Norwegian Eliteserien, former Manchester City midfielders Mohammed Abu and Bismark Adjei-Boateng were in action for Stromsgodset who snatched a point from Stromsgodset after holding them to a 1-1 draw.

SAUDI ARABIA

Former Hearts of Oak star Winful Cobbinah was not in the Al Najran team that suffered a 2-0 away loss at Al-Nasr.

SWEDEN

Nasiru Mohammed and Abubakari were both replaced in the second-half by BK Hacken who succumbed to a 2-1 away loss to ten-man AIK Solna. Ebenezer Ofori played in central midfield for AIK.

Elsewhere in the Allsvenskan, Halmstad BK slipped to a 1-0 home loss against Falkenberg. Halmstad missed Ghanaian midfielder King Osei-Gyan who is nursing injury while Godsway Donyoh was unused by Falkenberg. Enock Kwakwa failed to make the squad for the game.

Midfielder Enock Adu Kofi was in action for Malmo FF who managed to beat Djurgården 2-0 at their own backyard.

In other games, Gefle claimed all three points after beating Helsingborg IF 2-1. Kwame Bonsu and Ema Boateng came off the various benches to play for Gefle and Helsingborg respectively.

Neither Sabah Lawrence nor Prosper Kassim was in the Goteborg IF team that pipped Hammarby 1-0.

In the Superettan, former Heart of Lions striker Benjamin Fadi was unused by Mjallby who beat Degerfors 1-0.

Kingsley Sarfo played 77 minutes for Sirius who managed a point from Ostersunds after holding them to a 1-1 draw.

In the third-tier league, striker Patrick Amoah captained Huddinge IF to a 3-1 win over Brage.

BELGIUM

Nana Akwasi Asare assisted the fourth goal for KAA Gent who posted a 4-1 win over Standard Liege. Ghana U20 striker Benjamin Tetteh was not in the Standard Liege squad for the game.

There was no Bennard Kumordzi in the KRC Genk squad that overcame KV Mechelen in the Pro League 3-1 in Friday's only kick-offs. Kumordzi is nursing an injury.

OH Leuven succumbed to a 3-2 home loss against Zulte-Waregem. Ghanaian midfielder Samuel Asamoah came off the Leuven bench to play the last 12 minutes of the game.

Westerlo suffered a 3-0 home shipwreck against St. Truiden. Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Mitch Apau played in defence for Westerlo and was booked in the 67th minute of the game.

Former Liberty Professionals starlet Eugene Ansah climbed off the Lokeren bench to play the last 18 minutes in their 2-1 home loss against Mouscron Peruwelz.

In the Second Division, 19-year-old Belgian-born attacker Charles Ankomah played full throttle for Lierse SK who won 3-1 against Dessel Sport. But trio Issahaku Yakubu, Emmanuel Annor and Emmanuel Nyarko were not in action for Lierse SK.

Former Mighty Jets striker Kwame Nsor played for Seraing United who lost 3-0 against St. Gilloise at their own backyard.

CZECH REPUBLIC

Former Ghana U20 and Tema Youth attacker Francis Narh played the entire minutes of the game for Banik Ostrava but he could not find the net as they suffered a 2-1 home loss to Jablonec. Derrick Mensah missed out of the squad.

DENMARK

Versatile Ghana defender Daniel Amartey played the entire 90 minutes for FC Copenhagen who defeated Hobro 1-0.

Defender Francis Dickoh sat on the FC Midtjylland who suffered a 1-0 loss to Nordsjaelland.

In the second-tier league, Joseph Mensah was in action for Horsens who made it five wins out of five after beating Vestsjaelland 1-0.

TURKEY

Black Stars defender John Boye missed out of the Sivasspor squad for their 0-0 draw with Konyaspor on Saturday afternoon.

Crocked Ghana defender Jerry Akaminko was not in the Eskisehirspor team for their 3-0 home defeat to Kasimpasa.

Striker Kwame Karikari came off the Balikesirspor bench to play 31 minutes in their 3-3 stalemate with Adanaspor AS on Friday night.

Former Ghana U20 defender Joseph Attamah was booked in the 93rd minute and played full throttle for Adana Demirspor when they lost 2-1 against Gaziantep BB.

SCOTLAND

Ross County emerged 1-0 win over Partick Thistle in the Premiership. English-born Ghanaian pair of Abdul Osman and David Amoo played for Thistle in the game.

Midfielder Prince Buaben played 84 minutes for Heart of Midlothian who slipped to a 3-1 home loss against Aberdeen.

RUSSIA

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong played 64 minutes for FK Ufa when they lost 4-1 at Terek Grozni.

SERBIA

Ghanaian defender Lee Addy was booked in the 7th minute and lasted 67 minutes for Cukaricki who held Javor to a 0-0 draw in the Serbian Super Liga. Midfielder Obeng Regan missed out of the Cukaricki squad for the game.

Attacker Francis Kyeremeh came off the Jagodina bench to play the last 18 minutes in their 3-0 home loss to Red Star Belgrade.

Samuel Owusu played for Radnik Surdulica who held Metalac GM to a 2-2 draw but his Ghanaian compatriot Suraka Zakaria was not in the team for game.

CYPRUS

AEL Limassol managed a slim 1-0 win over Ermis in the Division. Ghanaian youth midfielder Carlos Ohene came off the AEL bench to play the last 11 minutes but John Arwuah was unused. Mustapha Quanyor played 79 minutes for Ermis.

Former Manchester City defender Razak Nuhu was yellow-carded but he played the entire regulation minutes of the game for Anorthosis Famagusta when they held Omonia to a 0-0 draw.

CHINA

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan missed Shanghai SIPG's 3-1 win over Guizhou Renhe due to injury.

KAZAKHSTAN

Striker Patrick Twumasi played 80 minutes for Astana who slipped to a 1-0 loss against Almaty in the Championship play-offs.

SWITZERLAND

Former Hearts of Oak striker Samuel Afum was in action for Young Boys when they beat Chiasso 2-0 in the Swiss Cup.

Ebenezer Assifuah helped FC Sion to a convincing 2-0 triumph over lower-tier side Munsingen in the same competition.

USA

Columbus Crew went top of the Eastern Conference table after beating DC United 2-1 at their own backyard. Defender Harrison Afful was in full time action for Crew.

Midfielder Kwadwo Poku came off the bench to play the last 10 minutes for New York City FC who won 3-2 against San Jose Earthquakes.

Seattle Sounders won 3-0 against Vancouver Whitecaps. Midfielder Gershon Koffie played 89 minutes for Whitecaps.

Goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey manned the post for Portland Timbers who slipped to a 2-0 home loss against New York Red Bulls.

Patrick Nyarko and David Accam all started for Chicago Fire who lost 1-0 against Orlando City FC.

POLAND

Aziz Tetteh was unused by Lech Poznan who succumbed to a 1-0 away loss to Jagiellonia in the Polish top-flight.
