How Ghanaian players fared in the Uefa Champions League

Ghanaian players enjoyed mixed results in the Uefa Champions League on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

There was victory for Christian Atsu and his FC Porto side while Michael Essien's Real Madrid suffered a shocking defeat in Germany.

FC Porto 3-2 Dynamo Kiev Christian Atsu came off the bench after 64 minutes to replace Silvestre Varela as FC Porto maintained their 100% start in Group A with an impressive 3-2 win over Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev at the Estádio do Dragão. Porto are in pole position to qualify.

Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Real Madrid Borussia Dortmund took charge of Group D with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Real Madrid at the BVB Stadion Dortmund.Ghana star Michael Essien who is on loan from Chelsea was deployed in a left-back position. Robert Lewandowski fired Dortmund ahead in the 36th minute but Cristiano Ronaldo levelled the scores for Jose Mourinho's side. Marcel Schmelzer claimed the ultimate for the Bundesliga side when he scored just after the hour mark. Michael Essien was impressive in the game. Dortmund have leapfrogged Madrid to go top of the group.

Nordsjælland 1-1 Juventus Former Ghana U17 midfielder Enock Adu Kofi played full throttle for the Danish side when they held giants Juventus to a one-all stalemate at the Parken. Nordsjælland looked on course to claim their first victory of the competition but Mirko Vu?ini? scored late to help Juventus pick a point from the game. Nordsjælland remain rooted to the foot of the table.

Malaga 1-0 AC Milan AC Milan's miserable season continued unabated as Spanish side Malaga posted a 1-0 win over them. Ex Ghana international Kevin-Prince Boateng did not travel with the Milan team to Spain.
