Ghana defender John Boye believes there is more room for improvement after impressing on his Nations Cup debut.

The 24-year-old was adjudged man-of-the-match for his splendid display against Botswana on Tuesday.

His defending was resolute and made timely intervention to maintain Ghana's 1-0 win.

Midway through the second half, Boye managed to scoop a goal-bound effort from Botswana off the line with an overhead kick to help the Black Stars.

Boye told GHANAsoccernet.com: ''Yeah, it was a good game for me on my debut. I thank everyone who prayed for me. I am not relaxing over this. I want to play more and improve on my performance."

With captain John Mensah and Isaac Vorsah serving suspension, Boye is expected to take charge of the central defence together with Jonathan Mensah.
