Ghanaian international striker Patrick Twumasi says his goal against Benfica in the Uefa Champions League on Wednesday night remains his most cherished strike all season.

The 21-year-old forward raced the Kazakhstan Premier League champions into the lead with a brilliant 19th minute effort at the Astana Arena.

The former Sogakope Red Bulls Academy graduate became the first ever Astana player to register in the group stage when he gave the hosts a 19th-minute lead.

"It was a great opportunity to score on my return to play in the competition. Obviously the game didn't go how we expected it but I'm truly happy about my goal. It's important," he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

Twumasi met Junior Kabananga's whipped cross from the left at the back post before nodding past Júlio César. A great start for the home side who require a victory to stay in contention.

But the Portuguese outfit fought strongly to stay in the game for the second-half as the tie ended in a stalemate.
