Claude Le Roy faces racial charges PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 30 January 2008

Image Ghana coach, Claude Le Roy has 24 hours to answer  racial charges levelled against him or face sanctions if found guilty by Caf.

Le Roy is alleged to have asked the General Coordinator for the reason why the pitch was not watered insisting he was a Muslim like them (referring to the Moroccan team).

His comments came during the last Group A game against Morocco at the Ohene Djan Stadium on Monday.

Caf claims the Frenchman has violated  article 132 of CAF Disciplinary Code.

Le Roy has been summoned by the CAF Disciplinary Committee to answer charges of misconduct.

Article 132 stipulate that ''Anyone who publicly disparages, discriminates against or denigrates someone in a defamatory manner on account of race, colour, language, religion or ethnic origin, or perpetrates any other racist and/or contemptuous act, will be subject to match suspension for at least five matches at every level.

''Furthermore, a stadium ban and a fine of at least $3,000 will be imposed on the perpetrator.

''If the perpetrator is an official, the fine will be at least $5,000.''
