Indonesia continue to sizzle in KL 2017 SEA Games Women's Futsal

Kuala Lumpur: Indonesia piled further misery on Myanmar as they beat the 2011 bronze medallists 3-1 in the Kuala Lumpur 2017 SEA Games women’s futsal at the Panasonic Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Desperately in need of a boost after their 2-10 defeat by Thailand, Myanmar applied pressure at the start but Indonesia were well up to the task as they countered every attack.

The Indonesians, coming off a 2-1 win against hosts Malaysia, took the lead in the fourth minute through Rani Mulya Sari who beat her marker to fire a low shot past Myanmar goalkeeper Zin Min Tun.

Indonesia saw more possession as they controlled play for the most part of the first half and doubled their lead just before halftime. With her back to goal, Maya Muharina Fajr turned in a shot from the top of the penalty area past a static Myanmar goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

After the restart, Indonesia found their third goal through Maulina Novryliani as she fired a low shot in the 39th minute off a corner.

Myanmar however got their consolation when Indonesia substitute Fitriya Hilda turned in a cross into her own net.

The win keeps Indonesia in the running for their first gold medal while Myanmar, who have now conceded 15 in three matches, are rooted to the bottom of the table.
