Ghana defender Daniel Opare has begun gym works to aid his recovery from a leg injury.

The 22-year-old damaged his metatarsal for the fifth time during training with his Belgian club Standard Liege back in October.

The injury is expected to keep the right back sidelined for three months – virtually ruling him out for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Opare has however showed tremendous progress in his recovery and has started working with his club’s medical team and physios in the gym.

The Ghana international will be reviewed by his surgeon at a yet to be announced date to confirm the rate of his recovery.

The former Real Madrid starlet will be hoping to receive good news from the medical experts at his review.

The 2009 Ghana U-20 World Cup winner has seen his thriving youth career blighted by several injuries.

He looked set to rediscovering the form that earned him mention as one of the 50 Most Exciting Teenagers on the Planet in 2007 until his recent misfortune with injury.
