Crocked West Ham United midfielder Andre Ayew is making strides in the treatment room.

The 26-year-old is expected to return to England at the weekend after given permission to travel to France to intensify his rehabilitation.

Ayew picked up a thigh injury during his debut against Chelsea in the opening day of the English Premier League.

And West Ham's head of medical at sports science Stijn Vandenbroucke has given an update on Ayew's injury situation.

"He has been working very hard on the pitch and is ready for the next stage in the rehab, introducing the ball, passing, kicking and faster running," Vandenbroucke told the club's website.

"Andre will continue working on improving his fitness levels for the next few weeks before he will join controlled introduction sessions with the Under-23s."

The Ghana international joined the Hammers on a £20.5million from Swansea City.
