Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien will find out on Monday how long he will stay out of action following his latest injury.
The Ghana star is facing an anxious wait to discover if he will be fit for the start of the season after another knee injury suffered last week.
Essien underwent series of tests over the weekend after suffering the injury in a practice session at the clubââ¬â¢s Cobham training ground last week.
Chelsea confirmed that Essien has suffered an injury to his right knee but refused to confirm reports that the midfielderââ¬â¢s problem was serious when they announced the injury.
But they say the severity of the injury will be known after most likely on Monday
A Chelsea spokesman said: ââ¬ÅPeople have been speculating about the extent of the injury, but it is dangerous to jump the gun.
Michael will be sent away for tests over the weekend and we will not be commenting further until the results of those tests are known.
ââ¬ÅWe want to make sure we have the full picture and I donââ¬â¢t think we will know how serious it is until Monday at the earliest.ââ¬
Essien will be concerned, however, that he is set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines, having suffered a similar problem in September 2008.
Then, he damaged his anterior cruciate ligament while on international duty, ruling him outfor six months.
Essien also missed the 2010 World Cup through injury and is a doubt for Chelseaââ¬â¢s Asia Tour which starts in a fortnightââ¬â¢s time.
