Ghana U20 midfielder Gockel Ahortor in on the verge of clinching his dreams of playing in Europe as he has started trials with Danish top-flight side Viborg FF.

The Inter Allies midfielder left the country on Thursday to start the two-week training with the Scandinavian club.

The 19-year-old was part of the the Inter Allies squad that played out to the 2-draw with Dwarfs in Tema on Wednesday.

Ahortor left the country to undergo the trial immediately after the game and Viborg have confirmed he is on trials.

He is likely to play in a friendly match before a decision is taken whether to hand him a contract to start his dream in Europe.

”Viborg FF has been visited by Ghanaian midfielder Gockel Ahortor who will train with the club in the next few weeks,” said a statement by the Danish club.

"Ahortor 19 years and central midfielder plays daily in the domestic league for Inter Allies FC. He has this season played 21 matches and scored seven goals.

"Gockel Ahortor has had a lot of youth caps for Ghana, and is currently part of the U23 national team of Ghana.”

Ahortor has been instrumental for Inter Allies this season even though they are fighting relegation.

He is the club's joint top scorer this season along with Frederick Boateng.

His absence will negatively affect Inter Allies as they are 15th in the 16-team league with 28 points and they are only four matches to be played.
