Gab Marcotti explains the changes in fortune from the start of the season for both Milan and Inter as the two sides prepare to meet in a critical derby.
Serie A club Inter Milan have opened their first academy in Europe, with Hungary chosen for the latest addition to the growing Inter Academy.
Last month, an academy was opened in Beirut, added to one recently opened in Indonesia and other established academies in South America, the Middle East and the Far East. Now it is the turn of the Szent Pál Akadémia Football Club in Budapest to join the Nerazzurri family.
"All children like to play football and sporting values help young people to grow as human beings," said Inter's vice-president Javier Zanetti on the club's website.
"This is what we offer at Inter Academy, as well as coaches with substantial experience in developing budding footballers around the world. I am happy that, thanks to Inter Academy, the dream can become a reality for many young boys and girls here in Hungary.
"I was always proud to wear the Nerazzurri shirt during my playing days and I am honoured to represent the club now, as vice-president, through projects such as Inter Academy that are imbued with passion and strong human values.
Inter Milan vice-president Javier Zanetti holds the records for most appearances with the club, with 858.
"I am sure this Inter Academy in Hungary will be a success as we are working with a competent partner and an established network of schools. It is the ideal set-up for sharing moral and sporting values, and for helping children to grow as human beings as well as footballers."
Two Inter coaches will be located in Budapest, where they will train local coaches and potentially over 6000 students based in the Szent Pál educational institute.
Inter are Italy's current youth champions and they were knocked out of the UEFA Youth League in the round of 16 by Manchester City on a penalty shoot-out.
