Inzaghi demands more from his improving Lazio side

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi believes his side could have scored more during their impressive 2-0 win over Empoli.

Antonio Candreva initially put the Biancocelesti ahead from the penalty spot, before Ogenyi Onazi added a second before half time, although the Italian tactician has praised his side for their improved displays in Serie A.

“I don’t want to downplay the significance of our recent performances, they have all been difficult,” Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.

The match represented an emotional homecoming for Inzaghi, who of course spent over a decade at the Stadio Olimpico.

“We’ve resolved our position in the league and it’s now time to look ahead,” he added. “We played well today and could have scored more.”

Inzaghi was joined in the stadium by his brother, Filippo, who recently lost his place as head coach of AC Milan.

“You could call it a family get together, obviously Pippo is very happy for me,” Inzaghi concluded in his interview.

Lazio now go level on points with Sassuolo in seventh, with hopes of achieving European football all but lost.
