The Republic of Ireland women's Under-17 head coach Noel King says Ghana could pose a real threat his side chances of progression to the quarter finals of the Fifa World Cup.

Ghana's Black Maidens sent a strong signal to the tournament's contenders after an impressive 1-0 victory over Brazil last Thursday.

With Group D thrown wide open, a win for either side at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Tobago.

"Ghana are a very tough, quick and aggressive side and they are going to be a real handful in our game on Monday evening. Let's not forget that we will be a really physical threat for them also, it is going to be an intriguing match and the team can't wait to get started," King said.

"Before the competition began, we all hoped that we could go into our final group game knowing that our destiny was in our own hands which is very much the case. Regardless of what happens against Ghana, I could not be prouder of the teams performances in the World Cup so far.

"The preparation, spirit and determination of the girls so far has been unbelievable. Unquestionably, this is the most important game in the competition for us to date but from here on in, every game will be a step further into the history books for our girls," he added.
