Italy-based Ghana midfielder Isaac Cofie admitted to the declining quality of the Serie-A but says efforts are being made to restore it as the leading league in Europe.

The Serie-A which used to be the haven for the World best players have fallen behind to the likes of the English Premier League, German Bundesliga and Spanish La Liga in recent years.

It is only in this season that Juventus have surprisingly managed to make it all the way to the finals of the UEFA Champions League which has been dominated in recent times by teams from England, Spain and Germany.

Almost all the good players in the Italian top flight often agitate for moves elsewhere.

Money and patronage of the Serie-A has clearly also been diminishing over the years.

Isaac Cofie who arrived in the league during its thriving period admits the Serie-A has lost its shine but says efforts are being made by authorities to make it glamorous again.

“It was on top when I came here first in 2009, but it’s not the same now,” Cofie said.

“I think the Federation and all the stakeholders are working hard to get it back to the good old days.”
