Istanbul inched closer to the promotional play-offs despite losing 1-0 at Prestige in Ghana's second-tier League on Saturday.

Maxwell Addo scored the only game of the match in the second half to ease the relegation fears on the home side.

Istanbul defense were caught ball watching as Addo soared above with a glancing header at the Nicholson stadium at Burma Camp.

The weak goal could also be traced to the goalkeeper whose indecisiveness allowed his marker to head from close range.

Prestige started the game brilliantly with great inter-positional display but failed to break a resolute Istanbul defense.

The visitors settled late in the first half and never looked back after taken hold of the game.

Midfielder George Essuman was phenomenal from the heart of the game with his sweet and flamboyant passing skills which won him many admirers.

Both team complained on many occasions with some controversial decisions from the centre referee but for the visitors they will feel downhearted by some of his calls.

Despite the setback, Istanbul are still in the run for a place in the play-offs with three games left to play.

They have two home fixtures against Sporting Mirren and Real Athletico before they travel to Accra to face Nania FC in the final zone 3A game.
