Belgian coach Mark Wilmots has parted ways with the Ivorian national team six months into their three year deal.

The Belgian trainer failed to seal a FIFA World cup spot for the Elephants and has since parted ways with the West African giants.

Wilmots joined the Elephants six months ago but has since failed woefully to steer the Ivorian to the Mundial. The 48 year old led the Belgian national in the 2014 FIFA World cup but endured a nightmare spell in Africa, missing out on the global roaster as the head coach of the Elephants.

Ivory Coast booked their first ever FIFA world cup spot in 2006 and have since qualified for the last three editions, missing out on the trip to Russia.

A new head coach is expected to be announced very soon with report linking the West Africans to Claude Leroy.
