Medeama chief executive James Essilfie says the club deserves to be on top of the Ghana Premier League table instead of their current position.

The Mauve and Yellows currently lie 9th on the table, amassing 34 points from 25 games so far.

However, the performances of the Tarkwa-based side do not merit their current standings after churning out some impressive displays in the top-flight.

And the club’s chief executive James Essilfie is surprised at the turn of event.

“To be honest with you I’m surprised at our position on the league table. Our performances do not merit where we’re at the moment,” he said

“We deserve to be on top because we have played better in all our games but unfortunately the end product has not gone our way.

“It’s a huge disappointment but we’ll consolidate the gains made and look into the future with hope.

Medeama managed a 1-1 draw at third-place Berekum Chelsea.

They will also contest the play in the final of the FA Cup against Kotoko on August 30 after beating Hearts in the semi-final
