Ghanaian-German defender Jerome Boateng has reacted angrily and condemned German fans for booing midfielder Mesut Ozil during their international friendly against Chile on Wednesday.

German fans at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium expressed their anger at their abysmal performance against the South Americans in a 1-0 win and singled out the Arsenal midfielder for jeers despite setting up Mario Gotze for the match-winner in the 16th-minute.

Before the game, Ozil was voted the German Fan Club Player of the Year 2013 but things turned sour for him when fans at the stadium booed and jeered him anytime he touched the ball due to their uninspiring display.

And, Boateng feels it is in bad spirit for fans to react the way they did towards their own players.

"This is outrageous," the Bayern defender told Echauffierte. "They can let out their frustration after the game and not even boo our goalkeeper during the game because that is bad," he added..

Ghana are in the same group with Germany along with Portugal and the United States and all four countries were engaged in international friendlies with Ghana and the United States suffering defeats while Portugal trounced Cameroon 5-1.
