Mighty Jets coach Jonas Amissah has tipped Asante Kotoko to win next season’s Caf Champions League saying they have depth of squad to end a 29-year wait for a continental title.

The Porcupine Warriors are just a victory away from winning their 22nd League title after opening an unassailable 15-point lead at the summit of the Ghana Premier League table.

Victory over struggling Berekum Arsenal on April 29 will mean Champions League football next season and the ex-King Faisal coach believes they have the pedigree to recapture glory on the continent.

“I am not surprised they have won the league this year because even if they use their fringe players, they’re unstoppable,” Amissah told Sunyani-based Storm FM

“Almost all their players on the bench would be regulars at almost all the clubs in the League.

“Even Toure is on the bench now but they are still playing impressively. He (Toure) will be the top star of Mighty Jets and all the clubs and this shows the depth of their team.

“I believe their time to recapture the African title will be next season and I am confident they will excel in the Caf Champions League.

The Kumasi-based club have finished top of the Ghanaian table just three times since 1993, with the last of those coming in 2008.

On the continent, they have been more disappointing, and they have failed to reach the group stage of the Caf Champions League since 2006.
