Ghana star striker Abdul Majeed Waris has vowed to score more goals for struggling French side Valenciennes after becoming an instant hit at the club after just five matches, can exclusively reveal.

Waris arrived at Valenciennes with a low profile in January but after just six weeks into his loan spell, the Black Stars goal-maker is fast becoming a fans-favourite at the club.

Two goals in five games is not the most impressive of scoring forms, but the 22-year-old's ability to create and assist goals is becoming his identifiable signature both for club and country.

Waris has produced as many as four assists in the 433 minutes he has completed so far in the French top-flight and has helped two crucial match-winning goals.

And, the Spartak Moscow player says his jobs is to ensure goals are scored by his club.

"As a striker my primary job is to score goals and help my club in every competition and I think I've started doing that here for them," he told

"I'm always happy to find the back of the net and when my goals make big impact I'm happy. My goals are part of my job and when I don't score I get worried for that."

The 2012 Sweden Allsvenskan Golden Shoe Winner is a bit hesitant talking about his target for the season but he says he is looking around 11 goals before the end of the season.

"I don't exactly talk about the number of goals I want to score in a season but I think for now I'm looking at 11 goals or more."

masa i like ur formation n ur selection wit exception of wakaso playin as a center back. juventus is playin same formation with 3 quality center backs(bonnuci,chiellini,barzagli/obgona) whiles our defenders (center backs easily loose concentration in big games. so i will replace wakaso wit jonathan mensah.

Yeah waris is the real deal. His goal against OGC NICE was a typical waris goal. The first goal he created was also classic. I kno that waris will definately start during the wc. His combination with gyan has been very fruitful n successful. I believe that waris will definately reach the 11goals mark. More grease to your elbows

@ Keith how can Waris start since AA is technically bankrupt and can't varies his tactics? If he can figure out the sense in playing 3-5-2 against team with less threat in attack, it will go a long way to help waris and the stars. Playing 3-5-2 will put less pressure on the defenders and guarantee more goals. We all know both dede and k.Asamoah are very good at defending, sulley and essien can shield and protect the back 3 whilst kevin is giving a free role to link between the midfield and attack . 1 . kwarasey, 2 Akaminko 3. Wakaso 4.Boye (defenders) 6 . Essien and Sulley (Holding midfield) kevin Boateng, k.Asamoah and dede as the 3 offensive midfielders and Gyan and waris in attack. This squad will destroy the u.S.A! We revert to our usual 4-5-1 against Germany and Portugal.we need win against the u.s.a and this how to do the work. I'm expecting AA varies his tactics acaccording to the strength of our opponents in brasil.

Real sabacious what makes u think waris shouldnt start? Since waris begin to play with gyan at the top the stars attack has looked very sharp because waris has taken a lot of pressure from gyan. Well afterall we are not the coaches.apart from gyan, boye, ayew and kwadwo asamoah nobody's place is secured in the first eleven. Even atsu, badu, rabiu, jona mensah and wakaso places are not secured. We shall see

@ Keith this is why we had problem in the past, where will expect Waris to play if AA opt for 4-2-3-1? I don't see Ghana playing 4-4-2 in Brazil cuz it will be a disaster for the team or meaning resting either k.Asamoah or Dede on the [email protected] wakaso is the best left back in the country for now.Had wanted to put David addy but I decided against it because AA has not confident in him though he's better than he AA favourites players he has used them on that slot so far, talking of kissi Boateng, Afful and opare as leftback.wakaso defends well, strong with abundance of stamina. He only has to be told to time his tackles.
