Ex-international Augustine Arhinful says the Black Stars will benefit immensely if John Mensah returns to first team football.

Mensah has moved to Slovakian top-flight side FC Nitra on loan and ready to be active after close to a year out.

The former Olympique Lyon defender, who has been without a club since leaving French side Rennes last season.

“I’m delighted for him and I hope that he goes there and start playing because you can sign a contract but I hope as he has been able to make the transfer he will be able to start playing,” he told Joy sports

“So if he starts playing and stays fit I believe he will be invited. He is a very good player who has been there before.

“All that we were hoping for was for him to recover fully and so if he claims he is recovered and would have playing time and definitely sure that the coach will invite him.”

Mensah can gatecrash Ghana’s World Cup squad if he remains active from now till the naming of the final 23-man squad in May.
