Ghana defender John Pantsil eyes Ghana place in WC squad

Defender John Pantsil insists he will fight his way back into the Ghana squad to make an appearance at the 2014 World Cup.

The 32-year-old has joined South African second-tier side Santos FC as a free agent and is keen to work his form back.

The former Fulham man has been overlooked by Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah for inactivity but after signing for Santos, Pantsil is eager to work his way back into the Black Stars squad for the 2014 World Cup.

“I am definitely happy to sign a contract here, the club is based in Cape Town so that is a fantastic thing,” he said.

I really want to be at the top level before the World Cup and put in some performances for the Ghana manager so I can go to the World Cup.”

Ghana must beat Egypt on a better aggregate scores to qualify for the 2014 finals.

Pantsil has played in both of Ghana’s last two appearances at the World Cup.

  4. Edward, Maryland says:

John, sorry, but there wouldn’t be a place for you in the Black Stars. Not after choosing to play for a second-tier side in South Africa. We are not that desperate for defenders.

Until Opare shows consistency, sorry guys, the likes of Paintsil will dream.
Why is nobody gunning for Stephen Appiah to come back?you all know why.The competiion is hectic in the midfield area.
Olele has meander his way back because Kwarasey and Dauda has not been consistant .

    • Quincy among EA Sports 5star skill players says:

I dont understand what u are saying. Olele did not have a team for two year and the only time he ad a team and was supervised by Akwasi Appiah, his team lost by 4 goals, yes can u imaging he picked four goals from his net so whether the current keepers are consistent or not, olele should not have been in the team. Not sure how much he paid to the GFA. They killing Ghana’s footbell
