Ghana defender John Pantsil was voted man-of-the-match in Maritzburg United’s 2-1 defeat at home to Moroka Swallows on Wednesday.

The Ghanaian international played full throttle for the Team of Choice and excelled heavily at the back.

But his man-of-the-match performance could not help the side as veteran Siyabonga Nomvete climbed off the bench to score a brace and condemn them to their third defeat of the season.

Pantsil capped an incredible evening by being named the Most Valuable Player despite the setback.

The Ghanaian international has been in fine form since he joined the side from Santos and continues to play week-in-week-out.

The former Fulham man has a realistic chance of making Ghana’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations squad if he continues with his matured displays at the back.
