Ghana defender John Pantsil is hoping Leicester City can translate Tuesday's Carling Cup success in their Championship meeting with table-toppers Southampton on Saturday.

Leicester showed a glimpse of what they might have to offer soon as a second string side defeated League One outfit Bury 4-2 away in the Carling Cup.

But Eriksson's expensively-assembled squad have enjoyed a mixed start to the season as the new faces take time to gel whilst Saints have been flying and lead the Championship table.

The Black Stars right-full back is hoping they can derail the good for of the Saints at the the King Power Stadium admits it won’t be easy.

"They (Saints) have started well and won all of their four games but that doesn't worry us because getting three points is all that matters to us right now. It would lift the team," he said.

''It's important for us to score more goals.

"The performance we put into the last game helped the team boost some morale.

"It showed we can put the ball in the net and that’s important for any team."

The club have picked just four points from their last four games in the Npower Championship and lie 15th on the 24-league table.
