Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah was benched by Evian TG coach Pascal Dupraz despite returning from suspension in their 2-1 defeat at Bordeaux.
Dupraz decided to stick to the pair of Cedric Mongongu and Aldo Angoula at the back.
But Saturday’s defeat could force Dupraz to shuffle his cards and play Mensah in Friday’s match against Nantes.
Mensah was the coach’s preferred centre-back before he was handed the three-match ban following his sending off against Lyon last month.
He missed the matches against Ajaccio, Montpellier and Lille.
