Evian TG’s Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah is itching to make a return to action in the French Ligue 1 after completing a three-match ban.
The Disciplinary Committee of the LFP punished the centre-back for using an abusive language on referee Tony Chapron who had booked him for a tackle.
Mensah got sent off in the 3-0 defeat to Olympique Lyon last month
The 23-year-old missed matches against Ajaccio, Montpellier and Lille but will now be available for selection in the away match at Bordeaux on 22 February.
Mensah says he struggled to cope without football for three weeks.
“It has been frustrating watching from the sidelines the last three games as I serve a suspension from a dismissal that I still don’t believe was fair,†Mensah said in a column.
“However, I have accepted the punishment, as these things are part of the game.
“Not being available for first team action didn’t mean work on the training pitch slowed down. It has been quite the opposite actually as I have been putting in extra work to make sure I stay in good condition.
“The physical trainer at Evian has been brilliant putting on extra circuits for me.
“To fully prepare for a comeback to first team action next week, I played 45 minutes in a specially-arranged friendly game on Wednesday.â€
