Columbus Crew defender Jonathan Mensah has stated that their defensive solidity against Philadelphia Union in the Major League Soccer was key for picking a point away from home.

Gregg Berhalter's back line is made up of three Ghanaians, Lalas Abubakar, Harrison Afful and Mensah and they were solid against the attacking threat of Philadelphia Union, that included compatriots David Accam and C.J Sarpong.

The Mapfre Stadium outfit held Philly to a pulsating 0-0 stalemate, with Mensah insisting that the result was a good one and keeping a clean sheet was very important.

"It was not bad. Coming on the road and getting a point is very important, but a win would have been very good for the team. You know we will not say a point is not good for us. We just move on and focus on the next game," he told reporters.

"I think it was a collective effort. The midfielders helped us a lot. We worked on it during training and we knew it was going to happen. Accam wants to get one on one and come at us. If we do not defend together as a group, it is going to be difficult for us. We communicated well and we just defender two-v-one against them. It really helped us."

The Crew will welcome D.C United to the Mapfre Stadium and the former Evian Thornon Galliard guardsman is very confident ahead of the game, as he insisted they have to win to extend their 13 match unbeaten record in the regular season of the MLS.

"I think the motivation is there. Going on the road and getting a point then going into a home game is good for us.  We have to be calm and capitalize on the chances we going to get. We just need to relax and just get ready for the next battle on Saturday."
