Jones Attuquayefio thankful for testimonial game

Ex Ghana international Cecil Jones Attuquayefio has welcomed the move by the Ghana FA and Primeval consult to organize a charity match in his honour.

The match which will be played at the Accra Sports stadium on 22nd June will have its proceeds going to the former Hearts of Oak coach who has experienced a deteriorating health condition in the last three and half years.

Friends of Attuquayefio that is his playing mates and the current crop of Black Stars players will play in the testimonial game.

The 67 year-old is best remembered for his achievements with Accra Hearts of Oak after winning the CAF Champions league and the Super Cup in the 2000/2001 campaign to earn the accolade; ‘Sir’.

Attuquayefio who is seriously suffering from throat cancer expressed his profound gratitude to the organizers for the honour being done him.

“I am very grateful to the event organizer, it is a fine opportunity for people who don’t know my whereabouts to see me,” he told XYZ Sports in a faint voice.

“I am very pleased with this honour to recognize what I have been able to contribute to the game in the past.”
