Jordan Ayew denies exaggerating calf injury to miss Black Stars game

Marseille striker Jordan Ayew has dismissed suggestions that he is exaggerating the extent of his calf strain in order to avoid international duty with Ghana.

The 20-year-old was due to meet up with Goran Stevanovic's squad in the United States this week ahead of their friendly match with Chile.

Answering claims that he is misleading his nation, Ayew said: "Even if that were the case, then normally I would be obliged to travel there anyway to let them evaluate the extent of the injury.

"Luckily the doctors there trust me and know that I never usually miss a game, and always try to give my best for my country.

"I don't think this pain is too serious, but it is annoying and I just hope it improves before the weekend."

Marseille welcome Toulouse to the Stade Velodrome on Saturday.
