Aston Villa striker Jordan Ayew says he is excited by the increasing number of Ghanaians in the English Premiership – in particular Chelsea’s acquisition of Baba Abdul Rahman.

The Blues captured the Ghana left-back in a sensational deal reported to be worth in excess of €25m from German club Augsburg.

There is a growing feeling Baba Rahman will be an instant hit under Jose Mourinho despite concerns of playing opportunities at Stamford Bridge.

Rahman’s move to Chelsea saw the number of Ghanaians in the English top flight swell to five – joining the likes of Jeffery Schlupp, Christian Atsu, Andre and Jordan Ayew.

And Jordan who himself was a summer acquisition to Aston Villa believes Chelsea will get their money’s worth with the signing of the former Greuther Furth man.

“Baba is a good friend of mine,” Jordan told Aston Villa’s official website.

“We come from the same town. In fact I wouldn’t even describe him as a friend – more a brother.

“I’m very happy for him. He’s a very good, modern left-back who can do everything – attacking, defending, crossing.

“It is great for Ghana to have players in the best league in the world.”

All five Ghanaian players in the Premeier League were involved in Ghana’s 1-0 win over Rwanda in the 2017 AFCON qualifiers on Saturday.
