Jordan Ayew celebrates his first goal in the English Premier League

Ghana striker Jordan Ayew was rated the best Aston Villa in their 2-1 defeat at the hands of his brother Andre's Swansea City in the English Premier League over the weekend.

Jordan, who has struggled to find his scoring form since moving to England in the summer, scored his club's only goal in the game.

It was his first goal in the English top-flight.

He was also effective by creating chances for his team-mates which has resulted in him being named the best player for his club during the game>

Below is the full rating for Aston Villa players by the English media:

Brad Guzan 6.5/10 – Made a stellar save to deny Andre Ayew moments before younger brother Jordan opened the scoring and couldn’t do much about either Swansea goal.

Alan Hutton 6/10 – Always eager to get down the right but his crossing was woefully inaccurate.

Micah Richards 5.5/10 – Had been arguably Villa’s most consistent player this season until Swansea's visit, as he conceded the free-kick that led to Gylfi Sigurdsson’s unstoppable equaliser in the 68th-minute.

Joleon Lescott 5/10 – Constantly pulled out of position and missed a golden opportunity to equalise in the closing stages when he blazed a shot over the bar from point-blank range.

Kieran Richardson 6/10 – Solid enough at the back but was nowhere near as effective going forward as the benched Jordan Amavi has proved this season.

Leandro Bacuna 6/10 – Used in a defensive midfield role, the versatile Dutchman’s set-pieces were certainly better than Ashley Westwood’s but he was otherwise largely unspectacular for much of the game.

Idrissa Gana 7/10 – Covered a huge amount of ground on the afternoon while offering some much-needed bite in the centre of the park.

Jordan Ayew 8/10 – Worked his socks off and opened his Villa account in the 62nd-minute with a diving header from Agbonlahor’s cross.

Jack Grealish 5.5/10 – Produced a great run in the lead-up to the opener but had few other moments of note and was taken off for Gil with 16 minutes left.

Gabby Agbonlahor 6/10 – A very impressive assist for Ayew’s goal but previously wasted a great chance to break the deadlock just after half-time.

Rudy Gestede 5/10 – Couldn’t finish a couple of first-half chances and failed to make his aerial presence count. Just isn’t effective enough to be the centrepiece of Villa’s attack.
