Jordan Ayew must now fight for starting role at Marseille

By Ameenu Shardow

Ghana striker Jordan Ayew has confirmed he wanted to leave Olympique Marseille for Reading.

The 20-year-old was heavily linked to join the English Premier League outfit before the transfer window shut last week.

However the deal never materialized but Ayew revealed he wanted to leave for the Medejski.

“It is the English Premiership and I  wanted to join Reading,” he said.

“But I don’t know what happened, Marseille didn’t allow me to go.”

The youngest son of Ghana legend Abedi Pele will now have to stay and fight for a regular spot in the Marseille team after a late attempt to seal another move to Nice fell through.
