Ghana striker Jordan Ayew is optimistic he can make significant impact at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 18-year-old is part of Goran Stevanovic's 25-man squad that will converge in South Africa this weekend to begin camping for the biannual showpiece in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

The youngster has been touted for greatness following sublime performances for Olympique Marseille this season and he remains hopeful he can translate that performance for country.

''I know a lot of people will be watching out for me at such a big tournament but  have confident I will do well if I get the chance to play at any point,'' Ayew said.

''I am very young and therefore will need to take lot of inspiration from the senior guys o enable me shine at such a big tournament.

''I believe I was called up on merit and I look forward to prove myself to our people at the international stage.''
