Ghana striker Jordan Ayew could not make his Ligue 1 debut for FC Lorient on Sunday in their shock 2-1 win at nouveau riche Monaco due to suspension.

The new signing picked up three yellows from last season when he was on loan at Sochaux for six months and so had to serve a mandatory one-match ban.

Lorient’s top scorer Vincent Aboubakar opened the scoring for the visitors at the Stade Louis II from the spot after nine minutes.

But Radamel Falcao equalized on 78 minutes before Valentin Lavigne scored the winner for Lorient with three minutes to full-time.

Jordan will be eligible and available for selection for head coach Sylvain Ripoll against Nice at home on Saturday.
