Former Asante Kotoko skipper Jordan Opoku has applauded Kotoko’s moral boosting SWAG cup triumph over regional rivals AshGold.

Coach David Duncan needed a 90th minute strike from influential midfielder Eric Donkor to steal the party when every one thought the game was heading for a penalty shoot-out.

The win sets the tone for the dethroned Ghanaian champions who were excellent in the second round of the league season but just came short of retaining their title to the Miners.

Opoku who is now club less after quitting the Kumasi based club last season says was  impressed with the attitude of his former team mates.

“Great win and this will do the team a million of good,” Opoku told GHANAsoccernet.com after the game

“They showed good character and played with a lot of intensity which is good to see.”

“I wish them all the best in the future.”

AshGold's loss to Kotoko means the league Champions have missed out on the opportunity to end the year with five trophies after winning the Adansiman cup, the GHALCA top 4 competition, the Otumfuo cup and most importantly the 2014/2015 league title.
