Asante Kotoko midfield ace Jordan Opoku says he refused a temptation to sign a lucrative deal this summer to remain with the Ghanaian champions.

Opoku is expected to captain the Porcupine Warriors this term as they seek to reach the 2015 CAF Champions League.

Influential players like Seidu Bancey, Abdul Aziz Yusif and Abdoulaye Soulama have all departed the red army after a historic double winning season.

But Opoku was not interested in leaving the club after a successful season.

"I had several offers to move on and I must say the money involved in some of them were good but I was really impressed with the direction the team is heading to," Opoku told GHANASoccernet.com

"We won a lot last year and it would have been easier to leave but there is still a lot to be done here and I am motivated about it.

"We will hope to go one step better than we did last season."
