Aspiring Executive Committee member of the Ghana Football Association Frederick Acheampong has called on sports journalists in the country to have confidence in him as a colleague as he makes himself available for the position of the highest decision making body of the country's football.

'Achie' as he is known in the media cycles has insisted that it is time mainstream journalists get into the direct running of football in the country to serve as a link between the general public and the outside the tagged 'football people".

In this country there is a perception out there which seems to suggest that there is a disparity between those running football in the country and those who are following. I am closer to the ordinary Ghanaian as a journalist than most of the executive committee members and I believe the ordinary football fan can channel their grievances through me into the executive committee should I win", Achie said.

"We should begin to have confidence in ourselves as journalists and take the bull by the horn. In one way or the other we make direct or indirect contributions to the development of the game. But I believe this is the right platform for sports journalists to have a representative at the highest decision making body of our football so that our grievances shall be channeled", he added.

The head of the sports department at Kessben FM who is a law student insists that his intention to contest for the executive committee position must give sports journalists hope and assurance that the future for this country's football is brighter.
