Belgian-born Ghanaian defender Denis Odoi picked red card as Fulham FC pipped Aston Villa 1-0 in the play-offs final to win promotion into the English Premier League at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

The Cottagers, who went into the game as the bookies favourite to grab the last qualification ticket to the top flight league, got off to a flying start as Scottish midfielder Tom Cairney handed them a 23rd minute lead.

Aston Villa piled pressure on Fulham midway through the game as they aimed to draw level but Londoners dealt well with their threats.

Fulham were put under a lot more pressure after Denis Odoi's picked his second booking in the game with 20 minutes from time - which led to a jittery end for Slavisa Jokanovic's team, but they dug deep to secure the biggest financial prize in world football on a day to cherish.

Albert Adomah lasted full throttle of the match for the Villains.
