Juventus to reward Kwadwo Asamoah with more playing time for opting out of Ghana's AFCON squad

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri is set to reward Kwadwo Asamoah with more playing time after the midfielder opted out of Ghana's squad for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

The talented player was not part of the Black Stars' 26-man squad which was named by coach Avram Grant on Monday.

Asamoah, who had already opted out of the 2017 AFCON to remain with the Bianconeris even before Avram Grant named his squad, will be rewarded by Allegri is expected to reward the Ghanaian for his decision.

The Old Ladies will be without Mehdi Benatia and Mario Lemina who have joined Morocco and Gabon respectively for the AFCON tournament.

Trio Dani Alves, Alex Sandro and Leonardo Bonucci are on the road to recover from various degrees of injury and Asamoah will profit from the absence of the five key players.

Asamoah was struggling to return to full fitness following a series of knee injuries and it looks like he is keen on getting a position at Juventus while he recovers fully before returning for Ghana.

The Black Stars are in the United Arab Emirates for a training camp from where Grant will reveal his final squad of 23 by the 4 January deadline.

The tournament kicks off in Gabon on 14 January.

Ghana will be based in Port-Gentil where they will face Mali, Egypt and Uganda in Group D.

The Black Stars' first match will be against Uganda on 17 January.
